                         Light Dance

"Dance is divinity, a natural state of grace in which we all reside. In its sacred form, dance is a language that reunites body, soul and mind" Iris. J. Stewart

Light Dance is a gentle and creative way to re-connect with your body and your inner spirit. By encouraging you to move in your own unique way, the feminine touch of Light Dance helps you to release tensions, blocks and pain, both physical and emotional, and start to feel a greater flow within your being.

Light Dance is for everyone, however and wherever you are in your life. It is a safe space to tune into you, to find your dance, your song, your rhythm, your flow, to receive your own inner wisdom.

“ Dance with Jacqueline has been a healing, transformative and liberating experience. I feel very safe and held by her. She is extremely sensitive and intuitive in the way she facilitates the sessions, sensing when to interact and when to step back. The environment the sessions are held in is a geodesic dome in her beautiful garden, this nurturing space feels like being held in a protective bubble. I really appreciate the alignment excercise at the start of the session, for it helps me to connect with my deeper essence, feelings and needs, allowing the movements and sounds I make to come from a deep, unconscious place, which feels flowing and organic. I would highly recommend this experience with Jacqueline, for it is such a powerful way to connect with your unique self

The Story of Light Dance

I began to teach Light Dance in 2001, following several years dancing the 5 Rhythms and 4 years training as a holistic therapist. I started with group classes exploring creative expression, with music from around the world. It became clear that, when the group surrendered and connected to their hearts, storytelling appeared naturally through their movement. Something magical happened, which not only connected everyone to eachother, but also to a deep desire to open their hearts and express themselves freely. I realised the healing potential of this work as more and more unfolded with the group and with individuals I worked with. I saw that Light Dance had the power to re-ignite the spirit. I saw the light shine brighter in peoples eyes as their spirits were uplifted by the simple pleasure of allowing their instinctive movement, their feeling body, to lead them. I discovered the joy of dancing with multi-coloured silk scarves working with a child who had very limited movement, letting the flow of the scarves dance for her. The dancers had to feel safe and unjudged to be able to let go. The witnessing was very important, sometimes I danced as well, and other times I observed, privileged to experience the beauty of another's heart expression. It could be an expression of joyous or sad emotions, still, the feminine touch of Light Dance felt sacred, a gift of healing, much more than simple release.

Dance has always been an integral part of being human. I hope Light Dance can make a              contribution to liberating the dancer within us all.

My training in energy field alignment and chakra balancing helps me hold a healing space and I sometimes include gentle touch in the session, always led by the dancer. We may begin with simple rhythm, movement or sound, always honouring the present, simply following what comes naturally, allowing the expression to unfold.

My own dance practise has been very important, my own exploration of myself: what I respond to, how different music affects me, when I feel resistance. I started to explore using my own sound. My voice began to flow, movement followed voice, voice followed movement. This felt deeper, the sense that my being knew the sound it needed to make, the vibration of the moment. It felt innate, ancient. The most important thing was not to think, but to surrender. Not to analyse or try to understand, but to simply allow.  Now I can support people to trust that they know subconsciously what they need to express, and, with gentleness and encouragement, can step into a new place within themselves, a sense of joyous spontaneity which many have not experienced since childhood.
